Well its Halloween and I hope you’re all feeling spooky! I love this time of year and I adore writing, as the mere feel of Halloween ignites my inner darkness and helps me to delve deep into my imagination.
I loved Halloween when I was a child and grew up watching many an atmospheric black and white movie such as, Bud Abbott and Lou Costello meet Dracula and of course the Hammer Horror Films, which is where my love of vampires spawned from. Oh to be trapped in deepest darkest Bavaria, adorned in red velvet, heaving bust, lured by the count himself to become his immortal bride, oh it sends shivers.
Of course one of my favourite horror films is the Lost Boys, I never tire of it and I adore the sound track, not keen on the sequels though they just weren’t in the same league.
Hocus Pocus is always a good one to watch, really fun and colourful, and of course Bette Midler was terrific, good to watch with children as well as it won’t spook them like the others I mentioned.
I do also have a soft spot for Van Helsing, I think because it’s set in Victorian times, which to me screams Dracula, and I loved the costumes the lucky actresses got to wear when they played the brides.
Now if you’re a fan of all things spooky with a cheeky edge check out google images ‘Halloween pin ups vintage’ for some really cool pics.
The picture above is modelled by a beautiful lady called Lillian Wells, sadly she died of cancer at the age of fifty in 1977. I love this picture it’s so cheeky x
