That’s the beauty of The Sweet Jasmine Series. Whether you’re a tween, a parent or a grandparent, the books are adored by a wide spectrum of all age groups.
I’ve just received an email from a lady who has informed me that her daughter loves my books, and has kindly asked if I would be happy to meet her one day at my convenience, for tea and cake. I replied to the email and of course gladly excepted, as I’m quite willing to bring joy and happiness to a young person’s life. In addition, I’m always interested to meet my fans to discuss the books, and what they enjoy so much about the stories.
The daughter is now overjoyed and fizzing with glee at the prospect of meeting the author of Sweet Jasmine Cakes/Stakes and Magic.
So, until our meet! I must say I’m looking forward to it very much, along with the prospect of tea and cake. Hmmm wonder if they’ll use any of the recipes from my books?
Burley was a massive inspiration to my writing. It’s a quirky little village right in the heart of The New Forest, and is extremely well known for it’s links with all things witchy.
If you’re ever in the south of England near Bournemouth, do drop on by. The quaint shops and tea rooms are a must see and you never know, you might just so happen to bump into a real-life witch!
Moreover my books Sweet Jasmine Cakes and Magic and Sweet Jasmine Stakes and Magic, are stocked in the famous gift and magic shop ‘A Coven of Witches.’
The white Range Rover pulled into the village of Burley and the two women immediately felt a mixture excitement and nostalgia. The pub and all the quaint little restaurants were warmly lit up with jack-o’- lanterns and candles, their flames dancing in the dark like wild spirits. Tourists and locals wondered about the village dressed in Hallowe’en costume, popping in and out of the souvenir shops and simply losing themselves in the atmosphere and occasion.
“What better place to spend Hallowe’en”, commented Adrianna Jasmine, “even for non-witches. I bet they feel it, you know.”
“Feel what?” enquired Kristobella with an interested smile.
“The magic”, whispered Adrianna Jasmine, “even non-energy sensitive mere mortals could feel the crackles of power and wonder that Hallowe’en creates in a place like this, they truly are experiencing Hallowe’en here.”

Adrianna Jasmine was sitting peacefully on her couch enjoying a lemon cupcake when she nearly jumped out of her skin.
“Ahhhhh, Mother!” she cried as crumbs flew everywhere. “Will you stop doing this?”
“Doing what, darling?” her mother asked innocently.
“This! Barging in unannounced, it’s most distressing. I could’ve been in the middle of something.”
Sicily gave her a daughter a saucy look and laughed. “Don’t be ridiculous, darling. Besides, this news is worth interrupting anything for, it’s so huge, so gigantic, so earth-shatteringly magnificent, you’ll understand, darling.” Adrianna Jasmine got up, brushed the crumbs from her lap and made her way into the kitchen. “That’s right, darling, crack open the champagne; this calls for a celebration!”
Adrianna Jasmine huffed with frustration, “I’m not getting any champagne, I’m getting a cloth, you made me knock over my hot chocolate when you burst in on me. I’m going to attempt to rescue my rug.”
Sicily carried on regardless, “Well, hurry up, darling, if I don’t tell you my news soon I shall simply burst.” I wish you would, Adrianna Jasmine thought as she located her carpet cleaning kit from under the sink before trudging back into the lounge. Her mother was hopping about like a demented modern arts performer.
“Well, what is it?” Adrianna Jasmine all but hissed as she began to soak up the dark gunk from her lovely aubergine rug.
Sicily took her stand theatrically and paused for a dramatic silence. “I’ve got it, darling.”
“I know, you said that, what exactly have you got?”
“It! The very thing that I’ve wanted most in my entire life, darling, except you, of course.” Adrianna Jasmine rolled her eyes, damn it, this was going to stain.
“What is it?”
Sicily took a long breath, “The gig of a lifetime.”
Adrianna Jasmine shrugged her shoulders, what on earth could it be? The woman dreamed of so many gigs of a lifetime it could be one of many: working with Madonna, acting on Broadway, a part in Coronation Street?
“The greatest gig of all.” Sicily’s eyes were wild and wide and she was breathing heavily. “I, Sicily Mariposa Poppleapple, have been offered the chance…

“Where the hell is he?” seethed Zofia, “he’s supposed to be back by now with news of how those witches are exposed and ripe for the picking. What do you think has happened?” Zofia looked at Katarina with a cruel twisting sneer.
“Do you think the witches have him?” asked Katarina, clutching to her chest a dead, white rabbit. She hugged it as if she were a child snuggling in to her favourite toy. “They’re strong maybe they’ve cast a spell on him?”

Adrianna Jasmine the witch from my books ‘The Sweet Jasmine Series,’ would never let a little thing like the British weather get her down! These are a few of her top tips to combat SAD!
“During this time of the year, we may need a little help to stay healthy, awake and alert. The lack of sunshine and vitamin D can really drag a person down…if he/she lets it.”
Squeeze the juice of one of whole lemon and the juice of one whole orange. Mix in a tall glass and knock it back. The zingy citrus scents livens the senses, and the beautiful vitamin C helps to fight radical cell damage.
Protein road to a happy day!
If you start the day with sugary foods, you will finish the day with sugary foods. Slow releasing energy foods fuel your body at a nice, steady pace. Cereals, sugary snacks, rice, pasta, table sugar, skinny latte, low fat this and low fat that, cause our insulin levels to rise then crash. This makes us feel sluggish. Not what we need if the weather gets you down!
Try starting the day with either eggs, fish, porridge, nuts, pumpkin seeds and water.
At one with the outdoors
Yes it maybe grey, but it’s still outside! Allow the fresh air into your lungs, move the body to liven it up and help ease away stiffness aches and pains, which sometimes feels worse in the cold.
Bring some Latin to you!
Take up Salsa or Zumba. The fiery, feel good music, energy and passion can lift your spirits and transport you into the world of sun and fun. Release your happy endorphins, it really does work! Single? Salsa classes are a great way to meet new people!
Take charge of your day!
Listen to upbeat music in the car, ‘Happy’ by Pharrell Williams always brings a smile to my lips!
Listen to Latin music.
Avoid sad songs, heavy metal and music that makes you miserable.
Recite positive affirmations on the way to work over and over again. It’s just like a spell!
Oh beautiful day, I am open to attract all that is good
Oh beautiful day, I am open to receive all that is good
Oh beautiful day, I thank you for all the joyful abundance I have received
You can also change the word ‘good’ to whatever it is you may wish to receive. However be warned, only use this affirmation to bring joy unto you. If you use the affirmation to wish harm unto others, it will only come back and seek vengeance threefold on you and you alone.
Have a funny films marathon! Laughter really is the best cure when one is feeling SAD

A little thing like dyslexia wasn’t going to stand in the way of Catherine Fowler’s dream.
Despite struggling at school, she always dreamt of being an author, like her idol, Agatha Christie.
Now all grown up, Catherine is thrilled to be launching her second novel, having overcome the condition which has blighted her life.
“Now it’s obvious that I am dyslexic, but I suppose back then they didn’t really know,” remembers Catherine of her schooldays.
“They said I had my head in the clouds. I struggled quite badly at school. I was very creative and imaginative, but when it comes to the basics like spelling and writing, I struggled.
“I’m also dyscalculia as well, which is with numbers.”
Catherine, who is now working as an exercise to music teacher and tutor, put her writing difficulties to one side in 2007, when she started to create a character for her first book.
“This character just popped into my head,” she said. “I started writing, just describing her. The next thing, I was addicted to this story.”
The book, called Sweet Jasmine, Cakes and Magic, a supernatural women’s fiction novel, took Catherine four years – and numerous proof reads – to write, during which time she was officially diagnosed with dyslexia.
Catherine was undertaking a PGCE at college when her tutor asked her to get tested.
“I passed with flying colours,” she smiles.
“Then I found out more about dyslexia. It was lovely, because now I know why I think the way I think. It’s poor organisational skills, you mix up times and dates, which I do a lot. It’s not just word blindness.
“I also found out that Agatha Christie was dyslexic. She is my favourite author, so that made me quite happy.”
Catherine, who lives in Bournemouth, launched her first book last year and is now preparing for the launch of the sequel, Sweet Jasmine, Stakes and Magic.
She admits the writing side of things is still difficult for her, but her creative side takes over to put the story together.
“I can be a bit hard on myself.”
“But I’m trying to relax and enjoy it more now. I’ve left the second book with an opening, so my plan is to do a third, which would be more of a prequel.
“The books are adult fiction, about witches. They’re a cross between Charmed meets Sex And The City. I’ve always loved the supernatural.
“I used to watch The Worst Witch when I was about eight, and I watched another film, called Bell, Book and Candle, when I was about eight or nine. They’re definitely why I love the genre.”
Catherine writes under the name Catherine Sabatina, in tribute to her late, Italian mother, who was also a keen reader.
“She passed away from breast cancer,” she says. She was very clever – she read eight books every two weeks.
The Sweet Jasmine Series is available via Amazon and downloadable via a Kindle.

Cher: I think, no, no I am certain that you are the most unattractive man I have met in my entire life. In the short time that I have known you, you have demonstrated all of the loathsome characteristics of the male personality, AND even discovered a few new ones. You are physically repulsive, morally reprehensible, selfish, stupid, you have no taste, a lousy sense of humor, and you smell. You know, you’re not even interesting enough to make me sick.
